Siobhan
I’m from Limerick in the South-West of Ireland.
I absolutely love to dance and sing and have fun (I can’t sing!! My voice is terrible. But I’m able to dance quite well ) they both make me really happy! I was in the All-Ireland final for Irish Dancing in my younger years. I also competed at national level in gymnastics. 🤸🏼♀️
I studied psychology at NUI Galway and hope to eventually study Clinical Neuroscience at an MSc level to study genetics and neurodegenerative medicine.
When did you decide to become an English teacher?
I decided to become an English teacher a year ago- my goal was to do my CELTA and work in Seoul, South Korea but then I joined the Citas team and I love it here! I’m young yet.
How would you describe your teaching style at Citas?
I think if you asked any of my students they’d know I love to have everyone up and moving around in my class. I think I have a very interactive style of teaching- whereby it’s the students and I doing the work together and not just me speaking and them taking notes. I like everyone involved- I even get students to teach each other sometimes! I think the more communication in the classroom the better.
Which was the best compliment that you have received in class?
I have been told before that students see me as a friend more than a teacher- which was nice.
What is your favorite word in english?
Oh Jesus... off the top of my head... I would say ‘sonder’ but it’s authenticity is questionable... so we’ll go with ‘serendipity
Tell me about your passion for photography? When did it start?
I absolutely love to travel so I think my passion started there. I began to take photos for memories but after a while I started to actually enjoy finding the right angle and actually realising the beauty of what I was seeing in the moment. I have a soft spot for candid photos of people genuinely laughing- too cute!
Do you have any hobbies?
Music is second nature to me, it’s on during literally everything I do! I also enjoy going to the gym- not the workout but need those endorphins ;)
And again, I really do love to dance! I enjoy reading a lot also, especially research papers on genetics (nerd). I do also love a murder mystery story!
And the usual socialising- I love going out at the weekends :) But I also am equally happy going home to my parents and chilling at home with them- I always look forward to going home from the hustle and bustle of Dublin.
Is travel a hobby?.... my number one most visited website is Skyscanner.com checking flights
